Core Conditions, Inc. Administration and Staff helped me become the respectable young man I am today. I entered the foster care system in 2005 and was placed in Fresno, California with Core Conditions Inc. I entered as a troubled adolescent who was quite behind academically and had no hope for my future. Now, looking back, I can thank the persistence, and patience of the staff for genuinely wanting the best for me. I was able to obtain a steady job for 2 of my 3 years spent at the CCI Dakota House. I graduated from high school with a 3.5 G.P.A. and I am now attending a 4-year CSU in Northern California. I truly believe that without the guidance and support from Core Conditions Inc. Administration and Staff I would not be where I am today. For their help and support, I will forever be thankful.

Core Conditions, Inc. Administration and Staff helped me to become the man I am today. I entered the foster care system at the age of 13. I first started off in foster homes and then went in to group homes. I went through 28 different placements before I was finally placed with Core Conditions. There, I finally learned how to manage my emotions and be stable for once. I was placed in there program on April 12, 2005 and stayed there until November 25, 2007. While there, I was able to get my high school diploma, which I never thought I would be able to accomplish. I think if it wasn’t for all of the staff, I dont think I would of made it. I truly believe that without the guidance and support of Core Conditions, Inc. I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Throughout the 3 years I was in the Core Conditions group homes I loved it. We had fun outings, to places like Disneyland, camping and out to ride horses. I had the closest thing to my ideal childhood that could be possible in a foster care setting. I am very glad that they accepted me to their program, because if they didn’t, I may have turned out far worse than when I even went in. I had heard a lot of things about how group homes were bad places and how you had to conform to basically a prison life. In my experience, CCI has made a huge difference in my life. I still talk to the administrators for advice and to just to keep in contact with the most positive people in my life. They helped me with money management and responsibility and how to run a household. I think that without their help I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Hi my name is Jorge R., I was a former Core Conditions, Inc. resident. My experiences as a resident there were great. As with every foster child, we have hard times adjusting to changes, just as I did when I moved from a different city and had a big problem with my anger. The wonderful people at Core Conditions helped me get through it, and thanks to them, I am the person I am now. I always thought I was going to be a failure, and always told myself that I wouldn’t amount to anything. Thanks to staff pushing and motivating me, I am now a success story. I graduated high school with a diploma, despite being low on credits when I first arrived to Core Conditions. I am now in the US Army and I want to say “Thank You” to all the people who helped me through it!

I really enjoyed my stay at CCI Lemoore. When I first got there, I was told it was a group home, but as I entered, I was greeted with the warmest welcoming and accepted by all. It took me less than a week to adjust and it was well worth it. As I grew to the place, it was more a home than a group home to me. It was my home! I felt wanted, I felt love, and that is all I had ever wanted in life. I wish I never had to leave it, they were all my family and we were a team, a group. I honor my home and to all of you family members; my home, is your home!

I was with the group home for two years.  The reason I turned out better was because I took staff’s feedback and started using it to help me. I liked spending Christmas at the group home because I got great presents. Staff would go out of their way to reward us when we’re being good.   I appreciate the staff taking the time to talk to me and help me! If they were never there, no one would have been there to talk to me and help me with my problems.

My life been a struggle at times or most of the time, but most of the problems came from my home and surroundings. I have been through lots of bad group and foster homes, but being placed in Core Condiitions changed me a lot. It took some time for me to realize the people at Core Conditions were there to help me try to figure myself out. They helped me figure out where I wanted to be in life. I realized that I could trust some staff and take advice. I continued to always keep them in mind and used them at times I would need help. Thanks for all the help, its been a pleasure to be placed in and graduate from your agency. I successfully graduated from high school and am now attending college.

After being placed in over 26 foster homes and group homes unsuccessfully, I was finally placed at Core Conditions. After arriving at Core Conditions, I knew something was different about this place. I felt like for once, the staff really cared and were truly here to help me work on my problems. This was a new experience for me in foster care. I felt like this place was more like a real home than a group home. I am very grateful to all of the staff who supported me on my journey while I lived at CCI. For the first time in my life, at CCI, I had experienced stability. I lived at CCI for several years and it was the last placement for me before I exited the foster care system for adulthood. For their patience, support and love, I will forever be thankful.

Core Conditions is the only placement out of many that I was in, that actually had a positive impact on my life. At first I thought what every person living in a group home thinks. I thought the staff really wouldn’t care about you. I thought that they were only there because it is their job to be there, so that they can get paid. I thought this, because there are a lot group homes out there that are like that. I was in a couple of them prior to coming to CCI.

Over time, after I lost the cockiness of my youth, and began trusting staff, I realized that the people working at Core Conditions are really there to help you with whatever problems you have. Everyone has their own problems, but some don’t know how to deal with them in positive ways. I was one of those people, who didn’t know how to deal with things at all. Core Conditions was the place that taught me how to deal with the things that bother me or make me angry. Anger was my biggest problem and to this day it still is, but I know how to deal with it much better now, instead of taking it out on other people at a moment’s notice. One of the best quotes I was taught about anger is that, “anger is one letter away from danger.” Anger can hurt you just as well as it can hurt others. At Core Conditions I opened up myself to talk about my feelings, something which I have never really done. There I found someone who continues to be one of the only people I can talk to, who’s advice I can trust. For that I have to thank Jennifer Preston because she was the main person who got me to open up and talk. Without her, I would probably be that same angry person I was before. Core Conditions changed my life for the better, and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who needs or wants to work on their problems. I guarantee that it will change their life as well.
